The Work is Never Done

Seriously, though. My mom told me the other day that if she could've changed anything about her young motherhood years, it would be to stop doing chores and work on personal hobbies instead. Pretty shocking to hear, actually. I know she loves to sew and make quilts, but I also know that she works hard and never was one to just enjoy herself while there was work to be done.

But that's the point. She WANTED to enjoy herself, but there was always work to be done. Tidy up "in case somebody stops by." Well, I live in the last house at the end of a dead end street. Nobody just stops by.

Yes, there are chores that are mandatory, but I could really use some time to just let them WAIT while I tend to my own creativity. Or lack thereof. I know there's someone artistic in here somewhere.

I'm brilliant when I vacuum. I come up with all of these great ideas of cool things to do with my kids and how, if only I didn't have to vacuum, cook, or slave away, I could get them all done in one day. Not.

Ah well, I shall keep trying. Perhaps I should start with a to do list.
More later.
